TO LOOK BEST, YOU MUST FEEL BEST INSIDE
We all want to look our best. There are many modern options available to help people look younger, such as surgery, injections, or topical creams. Of course, these approaches only focus on appearance, without considering the contribution of inner health to how people looks. For thousands of years, Traditional Chinese Medicine has always been used to enhance beauty from the inside out.
In Chinese medicine, inner health and outer beauty have a very strong relationship, and facial appearance is routinely used as a diagnosis tool to assess the underlying health. Specialized techniques have been evolved for thousands of years to help people achieve a longer and more youthful life. Such techniques, including acupuncture, herbal medicine, Tuina therapeutic massage, self-care techniques, etc, promote the balance inside your body and thoroughly improve your overall health. Only when you feel healthier and younger inside, you can expect younger and more energetic appearance outside.
What we offer for anti-aging?
1) Anti-aging acupuncture.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine theory, human bodies are empowered by Qi (energy). Qi runs in regular patterns through energy channels, called meridians, which are like rivers flowing through the body to irrigate and nourish the tissues. Blood flow and nervous pulses also follow meridians to run through the body to various parts, structures and organs. Any obstruction and blockages or deficiencies of Qi, blood and nervous pulses would eventually lead to disease. Symptoms manifest on the face also because of these imbalances. Sometimes, the imbalances are only shown on the face. These can be redness, dryness, acne, wrinkles, sagging or dark circles. Acupuncture needles insert some specific regulative points on the meridians to regulate the Qi, and therefore help the body’s internal organs to correct imbalances in their digestion, absorption, and energy production activities, and in the circulation of their energy through the meridians. A balanced body will for sure have a slower and healthier aging pace.
2) Cosmetic acupuncture.
Besides enhance the overall balance inside the body, cosmetic acupuncture can accomplishes more by using special needling techniques, such as tighten and lift muscles in the face, reduce fine lines, improve hydration, lymph and blood circulation to the face. Please see the section cosmetic acupuncture for details.
3) Anti-aging herbal formula
Chinese herbal formulas have been used for centuries for treating various diseases and simply for prevention and longevity. They focus on restoring a balance of energy, body, and spirit to maintain health rather than treating a particular disease or medical condition. They can also help replenish Qi, Blood, Yin and Yang that is lost as we age. It began in China over 4000 year ago and has been evolving over time to address constantly changing health issues. The Chinese pharmacopoeia lists over 6,000 different medicinal substances in terms of their properties and the disharmonies that they were helpful with. There are about 600 different herbs in common use today.
Among these, some herbs classified as tonic herbs or anti-aging herbs. For example, Ginseng, Ling Zhi, He shou wu (a well-known herb used in China to keep hair from turning gray according to TCM), Astragalus root, Rehmannia root, Dang Gui have been used for thousands of years to nourish aging bodies. They help to improve the appearance of the skin by replenishing blood, Qi (energy) and moisture to the skin which diminishes over time. The available patent aging formulas (pre-made and standardized formulas) are believed to help replenish body from specific aging conditions, such as menopause, hair loss, eye strain, low energy by removing the blocked Qi or toxins inside the body.
4) Life style and self care consultation
The balance of food, good exercise and enough sleep and relaxation are also essential anti-aging factors. Healthy diet is balanced nutrition from fruits, vegetables, nuts, proteins and can help to replenish the lost moisture and Qi to our skin as we age. Some foods, especially some fruits with dark colors, contain anti-oxidant factors which can slow down the oxidation occurring during aging and promote healthy skin. According to traditional Chinese medicine, healthy food intake can help keep blood, qi, moisture, yin and yang balanced which is reflected on the face and skin.
Taichi Chuan is an excellent method for exercise and relaxation of the whole body. TaiChi Chuan’s gentle, low impact movement burn more calories than surfing and nearly as many as downhill skiing. Researchers have found that intensive TaiChi Chuan practice can promote balance control, flexibility, cardiovascular fitness, and reduce the risk of many aging related diseases, such as stroke, heart failure, high blood pressure, heart attacks, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and fibromyalgia. Regular TaiChi Chuan practice was shown to significantly increase psychological well-being including reduction of stress, anxiety, and depression, and enhanced mood in community-dwelling healthy participants and in patients with chronic conditions.
